We Shall See!!!!

I bought this bike for 3 reasons: 1. I wanted a commuter bike that was easy on gas and I wouldnt have to ride my Hog everyday (10 miles). 2. My OL' Lady wants to eventually ride two wheels and I figured this dirt bike wouldn't kill her when we go out in the desert on our family camping/Quading trips. 3. My son wants a dirt bike and in a couple of years he will be tall enough to touch the ground and ride by himself. He's been riding with me on my Hogs, and riding his quads since age 4. I became an MSF RiderCoach a while back and we have a few of these models, as trainers for the "tall" students, so after riding this model a few times, it sparked my childhood interest of wanting the XT250. I read the previous reviews about the cheap tires, so when I went to look to purchase, this bike already had the "AVON Distanzia" street/dirt tires!!! I have rode it 75 miles so far, and am waiting to figure out the mpg. on the first tank but I will report back! I like the display that tells you the time, mph., and 2 trip meters!! I dont think it needs a tach. I can hear and feel the motor over my "Jamming" Ipod tunes! I wish it had more torque to want to throw you off the seat, or make you fight to keep the front wheel on the ground, but then I reflect back to reasons 2 and 3 for choosing this model. For now, I am impressed with its handling, brakes, and the acceleration! I can still leave the traffic light and roll through the gears quick enough to maintain my standing in traffic without being a nuisance to faster drivers, and here in Phoenix, we have a lot of "Gotta beat you to that next Red light" drivers. The speedo is about 3-4 mph. off. So far top speed for me was 60-62 mph.(Actual) I will pop back and give another review in six months or so to be fair and accurate. I gave it 3 stars because it doesent have the torque or a 6th gear, you're in 5th before you know it, that I think would be beneficial on the top end. I gave 4 stars for comfort because even with the Corbin seat it's still a little hard on the backside. Anyways, Happy Thump"n!!

Upgrades/Accessories:  FMF Pipe, Corbin Seat, Avon "Distanzia" tires, ACEBRIS Handguards, luggage rack, skid plate, rear brake cylinder protector, wider operator footpegs and Joe Rocket Tank Bag (perfect for the GPS to check the actual mileage).
